Dedicated To Excellence In Cleanliness

Firm History

Bio-Janitorial Service, Inc. is a well-established and diverse facility maintenance company. Its mission is to provide sanitation, cleanliness, safety, and a healthy environment for organizations at both local and national levels. The company serves a wide range of clients, including those in special cleaning, manufacturing, general office environments, high-tech industries, clean rooms, high-security facilities, multi-location businesses, and schools. BJS emphasizes a partnership approach with clients, focusing on high personnel standards and supervisory training to deliver optimal results at competitive prices. The company caters to facilities ranging from 1,000 to over 1,000,000 square feet.

Founded in January 1990 by Oliver Ibeh, Bio-Janitorial Service, Inc. was built on the belief that “with hard work, anyone can achieve the American Dream.” Mr. Ibeh, who worked various odd jobs while in college, earned a B.S. degree in Management but initially struggled to find better opportunities. After researching the janitorial industry, he started the business with a $200 investment in equipment and supplies, working as both janitor and salesperson. Early revenues of $1,000 per month came from subcontracting work in Phoenix, Arizona.

In 1990, Mr. Ibeh began pursuing direct contracts, securing his first with Superlite Block of Phoenix, Arizona, followed by Williams Detroit Diesel in 1991. By hiring its first employee and expanding into medical facilities, high-tech buildings, and manufacturing plants between 1992 and 1995, BJS grew steadily. In June 1993, the company became a corporation in Arizona and was recognized as one of the top 25 janitorial firms by The Business Journal. Mr. Ibeh introduced a unique Quality Assurance Program based on site-specific specifications, honesty, and integrity to deliver cost-effective services and safe working environments.

In 1996, BJS secured its first major contract with Motorola (now General Dynamics), growing to 50 employees and achieving annual revenues of $800,000. To meet contract requirements and address employee turnover, the company implemented an EEO/Affirmative Action Program, a Safety Program, background checks, and drug testing. BJS also began offering competitive wages and comprehensive employee benefits, including health insurance, paid vacations, and a 401(k) retirement plan. By 1997, the company acquired several prominent clients, further increasing its workforce and revenues. BIO sucessfully maintains moderate growth while continuing to provide exceptional service to its clients.
